Flower pot cocktails at the Musical Pop-Up Party (7 September)

Throughout the month: Multi-sensory Cocktail Emporium at The Worship Street Whistling Shop

A world first: two hours of cocktail drinking sensory overload focusing on the history of rum and rum drinking from the 17th century to today. Include six fabulous rum expressions matched with food and accompanied by imagery, sounds and scents from each area.
Two sittings per evening: 6pm-8pm and 8.30pm-10.30pm. £95 per person, including rum and food.

Have fun making cocktails with a gorgeous stranger and who knows? The mix could be just right. Entry fee includes a complimentary cocktail, then you get matched up with someone (hopefully) compatible with you and you get to make and drink another cocktail together. If you hit it off, remember all house cocktails are available for £8 for two. Cheesy love songs playing in the background are a given…

5 & 6 September: CASK UK Roadshow – Leeds

Join the CASK brand owners and ambassadors for tastings and talks on the premium drinks in the portfolio including Elements 8 rum, Ocho tequila and Merlet cognac and liqueurs. Each roadshow culminates with a cocktail competition for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts and the final will be held in Cognac later this year.

5-11 September: Bristol Cocktail Week

Bristol goes cocktail crazy for one week with everything from food and cocktail matching, a rum-off, Bartender of the Year competition, single malt tastings and an American Whiskey Night.

5 & 26 September: Monday Night Film Club

Perfect now the autumn evenings are drawing in, these popular film nights get your week off to a glamorous start. 5 September: Suddenly Last Summer (Liz Taylor); 26 September: Mannequin (Kim Cattrell).

6 September: Bartender Mastermind
Watch as five bartenders battle it out in the fourth quiz to find out who knows most about drink in the industry. Each contestant answers questions on their specialised subject before testing their general drinks knowledge. The winner of each heat walks home with a shiny iPad 2 and a place in the final in November.
Doors open and drinking starts at 6pm; lights down and competition 7.30pm.

10 & 17 September: Cocktail Masterclass

Five hours of mixing, shaking and drinking with the team at Shaker Bar School. After learning all about the various bits of kit, every participant gets to show off their skills behind the bar trying their own variations of a Collins, Margarita, Daiquiri, Caiprinha, Sour and Martini. Great fun and hugely informative.

14 September: 15th Birthday Celebrations at OXO Tower Restaurant Bar & Brasserie

It’s served over 2 million cocktails over the years and now this iconic restaurant, bar and brasserie will be celebrating its 15th birthday with special menus and cocktails throughout the month. Call in and raise your glass to one of the the most beautiful buildings on the South Bank.

16-18 September: Goodwood Revival

Dressing up is obligatory at this popular motor racing event celebrating the glamour of a bygone era. Vintage shopping, golf and of course, racing will be on offer, not to mention a whole lotta vintage Johnnie Walker cocktails from the Johnnie Walker hut.

16-20 September: London Fashion Week

Toast in the new season’s collections with fashion-inspired cocktails at a number of stylish bars including The Dorchester, Vista at The Trafalgar and Fifth Floor Bar at Harvey Nichols.

17 September-2 October: British Food Fortnight

Speaking of the Fifth Floor Bar, it will be celebrating the best tastes of Blighty with a delicious cocktails and canapé menu. Featuring the Lady Marmalade (made with Chase Marmalade vodka and British honey), paired with marmalade cured ham and piccalilli; the Tipsy Pig (made with Williams Chase gin, Chase rhubarb liqueur, apple juice and cinnamon syrup), matched with a pork pie; a Bloody Mary martini (Carounn gin, chilli tomato jam and tomato juice) served alongside a Scotch egg on horseradish and a Hammersmith Vespa (Sipsmith gin and vodka) teamed with the best British smoked salmon. All taster cocktails are served on a platter, complete with its matching canapé, £15.95 each or £34.95 for all four.

24 & 25 September: Pure Festival

Probably one of the smallest festival line-ups but with a cracking selection of whisky and bourbon included in the ticket price. From 4pm-7pm you get a chance to sample drams from Ardbeg, Talisker, Cooley, Whyte & Mackay and Dewars, before enjoying music from whisky-loving artists including The Raveonettes, Smoke Fairies, Electric Soft Parade and Shake Tiger Shake.
4pm-10pm, tickets £28.50 including unlimited whisky tastings.

25 September: Tea Dance at The Waldorf

Here’s something a little different to do on a Sunday afternoon – book up for the legendary Tea Dance at The Waldorf. Dating back to 1920 this most genteel activity features a live five-piece band and ballroom music. In between having a twirl, enjoy tea, gorgeous scones and finger sandwiches, then order The Dansant, the tea-based cocktail featuring St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, rose water, vanilla syrup, forest tea and fresh lemon juice.

World Class Cocktail Exhibition at Harrods

If you only do one thing this month, make sure you get down to Harrods for its first exhibition dedicated to all things cocktail. Not just any old cocktails mind but World Class cocktails from Diageo. Discover the history of cocktail making, future trends and tips on how to make the perfect mixed drinks at home at this very special event designed to showcase Diageo’s brand heritage and the excellence of the World Class competition.

30 September: V&A Friday Lates

Bombay Sapphire join up with the V&A for the Summer Camp Friday Lates and serving summer cocktails infused with imagination in the John Madjeski Garden.
