Throughout the month: Multi-sensory Cocktail Emporium at The Worship Street Whistling Shop

A world first: two hours of cocktail drinking sensory overload focusing in the history of rum and rum drinking from the 17thcentury to today. Include six fabulous rum expressions matched with food and accompanied by imagery, sounds and scents from each area.
Two sittings per evening: 6pm-8pm and 8.30pm-10.30pm. £95 per person, including rum and food.

To 16 October: World Class Cocktail Exhibition at Harrods

Discover the history of cocktail making, future trends and tips on how to make the perfect mixed drinks at home at this very special event designed to showcase Diageo’s brand heritage and the excellence of the World Class competition. The complimentary talks and masterclasses include Dinner Party Cocktails, innovative ways of drinking whisky and a step-by-step guide on how to mix the perfect Martini.

4 October: Bartender Mastermind

Watch as five bartenders battle it out in the fifth quiz to find out who knows most about drink in the industry. Each contestant answers questions on their specialised subject before testing their general drinks knowledge. The winner of each heat wins a shiny iPad 2 and a place in the grand final in November.

4 October: Autumn Drinks

The bi-monthly themed Tuesday Tastings at The Hide Bar take in talks and samplings of the new season’s menu including classics and a few new inventions.

4 October: Lillet Twisted Vesper Competition

The London heat of the Lillet Twisted Vesper competition promises ingenious interpretations of the classic Bond drink. Whoever takes first place will join the winners from Manchester and Edinburgh in the grand finals in Paris next month.

4 October: Simply Whisky Cocktail Extravaganza

A don’t miss evening for whisky lovers featuring Colin Dunn of Diageo, Stuart Fritz from LAB Bar and Erik Lorincz from the American Bar at The Savoy. The evening starts with tastings of three single malt whiskies, experienced neat then in a cocktail and ends with Erik creating a cocktail containing the world’s oldest whisky – the Mortlach 70 year-old, 1938.

6-16 October: Museum of Cocktails at Harvey Nichols

Fifth Floor Harvey Nichols gets London Cocktail Week off to a fantastic start with this pop-up bar celebrating a centenary of mixed drinks. Choose from ten of the most popular cocktails from the past century including the Knickerbocker Martini (1910), The Mai Tai (1940s) and Long Island Iced Tea (1980s). Customers will be given recipe cards when they order the cocktails and specially created displays will be scattered throughout the Fifth Floor alongside original Bacardi items from the corresponding eras.

7-16 October: London Cocktail Week

Ten whole days of serious cocktailing fun, starting with The Whisky Show on Day One, and moving along nicely to the fabulous Rum Fest at the Finale. In between there’ll be workshops, masterclasses, competitions and a whole lot of quality cocktails at £4 each for LCW wristband wearers. Make sure you’re part of the biggest party of the year.
