Monkey Shoulder rhubarb and rose julep

With the restrictions of Lent, we’re figuring sweeties and booze are figuring pretty highly on your must-do list this weekend.  In which case may we tempt you with ‘The Thinking Drinkers Guide to Alcohol’ and the Monkey Shoulder Chocolate Trail? One has liquor and laughs, the other cocktails and chocolate – and both are so good, you might just be forgiven for giving in to temptation a few days ahead of Easter…

If you’re smart; you’ll combine both. Start by dropping into the fabulous indoor wilderness created by the Monkey Shoulder team. Park any too cool for school attitudes at the door and resolve to tap into your fun side as you search for Easter eggs amongst the designer foliage. It’s worth it – if you find one, you can swap it for a bespoke whisky cocktail and handmade choccy to complement your drink; if  not, don’t fret, you can always buy one of the cocktails at the bar.

Then it’s a hop, skip and a jump over to the Soho Theatre for The Thinking Drinkers Guide to Alcohol. Prepare to exercise your chuckle muscles as Tom Sandham and Ben McFarland give a spirited talk about the history of alcohol. There are drinks too; six of them in fact, including gin, vodka, rum and absinthe – just to set the mood. Thursday’s show has already sold out, so do yourself a favour and book up for Friday or Saturday pdq.

I am most definitely planning to head down to the Monkey Shoulder easter egg hunt, hopefully tomorrow. Chocolate, cocktails and silly fun are a fantastic combination. Great idea!
