The prize-winning Monkey Island

Yum! Those nice people at Monkey Shoulder had already gone well beyond the call of Easter duty with their Chocolate Trail  – pairing delish homemade chocolates with fab cocktails, but with a little help from the London Cocktail Society things went up a notch last night…

Lucky guests got to have a good ol’ rummage around the pop-up Monkey Shoulder garden in central London, taking their pick from fresh fruit, liqueurs, syrups and bitters to concoct their very own Monkey Shoulder cocktail to pair with the chocolate of their choice. All the drinks were outstanding but the spotlight fell on a certain Ms Stephanie Rae-Smith and mystery mixing partner who scooped the top prize with their Monkey Island cocktail, paired with sea salt chocolate.

Monkey Island

Ingredients
50 ml Monkey Shoulder
20 ml Cointreau
20 ml fresh pineapple juice
10 ml creme de peche
Juice of half a lemon
Dash rhubarb bitters

Method
Shake vigorously with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon. Serve with sea salt chocolate.
