Two deeply delicious, forward-thinking, very different Negroni styles to sip this weekend. The first comes from those clever chappies at Artesian, so it goes without saying it’s not a Negroni as you know it at all. Instead, Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale’s Negroni Saison doffs its cap to the traditional production of Campari but thanks to a cool collaboration with Partizan Brewery, the big-hitting citrus notes are taken to new heights and get twisted up inna beer-styley.

Say hello to rhubarb root, aloe, Nepalese pepper and Hallertauer mittlefruh hops, a daring, very different combo that packs a bold, ballsy and flavoursome punch. The result is a bone dry Negroni/beer mash-up that’s big on flavour and complexity – more beer than Negroni if poured straight from the bottle if we’re honest but serve it over ice with a twist of orange and bam! the Negroni references come shining through. It’s a Negroni and then some. Try it at the London Craft Beer Festival tomorrow and Sunday 16th, then on the menu at Artesian thereafter.

Next  Robusto, the latest in the series of house-bottled Negronis concocted by Tony Conigliaro and Drink Factory. Like the other three in the collection (Classico, Superiore and Rosato), available exclusively at Bar Termini, Robusto stays loyal to the DNA of this champion of aperitifs but elevates it into something sexier and supremely elegant. Here the Negroni recipe is intensified by gently cooking in a sous-vide for four hours, resulting in a deep, rich and mellow variant that concludes with a satisfyingly sweet finish.

We love the sophistication of the serve – unlike the customary rocks glass handed over the counter, Termini present theirs table side in bijoux stemmed glasses, straight from the freezer. Intrigued? Try it at Termini from Sunday 16th August.

Like we said, it’s a very good weekend for Negronis…
