The Chivas Masters. Craftsmanship. Innovation. Modern bartending. Teamwork. And a sense of local and global flavour. Think you’ve got it all?

Four years in and the Chivas Masters has grown into a cocktail competition like no other. It’s a journey of discovery and delight for bartenders and this year the journey for UK bartenders starts with seven heats around the country, before culminating in the National Final on the 18th April. From there the winner will be grabbing their passport and bar kit, before heading off to compete in the Global Final in Tokyo.

What you need to do:

You’ll need to create three outstanding Chivas Regal cocktails; The Classic Way, The Local Way and The Japanese Way.

First up is The Classic Way. Take a look at a classic cocktail from New York, give it a nod to Scotland, then make it your own. Then it’s The Local Way. This is you taking inspiration from your surroundings, be it your bar, home, environment, whatever, and translating it into your cocktail. Then comes The Japanese Way. This is your chance to pioneer a new drink with modern Japanese flavours, inspired by the land of the rising sun.

When you’ve got your three serves it’s all about making your pitch to the UK judges. Heats will be taking place in Bristol, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and Newcastle, leading up to the UK final.

Global Final – Destination Tokyo

For the national winner it’s a chance to head to Japan and join with their fellow winners from around the world. Together they’ll discover the unique flavours of this incredible country, explore its extraordinary craftsmanship and experience its precision and service.

Having witnessed the Global Final in previous years we can attest to its pricelessness for bartenders who want to take their craft to a totally new level. As for the overall winner, they’ll get to travel to an iconic bar in the global city of their choice, where they’ll get to collaborate with some of the world’s most influential bartenders.
