Did someone say St. Patrick’s Day? Obviously a Guinness or two is in order but if you’re looking for a cocktail, try one of these three delicious concoctions devised by Agostino Perrone and Rusty Cervan from The Connaught Bar. Not only do they showcase three fabulous Irish whiskies, one (the St. Patrick’s Day Julep) combines Guinness as well.
St. Patrick’s Day Julep
40 ml Inish Turk Beg – Maiden Voyage Irish Whiskey
40 ml Guinness
7 leaves of fresh mint
3 blackberries infused with port
3 dashes of liquorice bitters (or Angostura Bitters)
1 tsp of caster sugar
Gently muddle fruits in whiskey glass, add rest of ingredients and fill up with crushed ice. Swizzle (mix them gently). Garnish with mint sprigs and blackberries.
Emerald Isle Sour
50 ml Connemara Peated Irish single Malt
20 ml of homemade Matcha Green Tea syrup (1 teaspoon of macha green tea blended in 100ml of sugar syrup)
20 ml fresh lemon juice
10 ml fresh pineapple juice
15 ml egg white
Sprayed lavender bitter (or garnish with lavender flowers)
Put all the ingredients apart from the lavender bitters/lavender flowers into the shaker and shake, first without ice, then fill up the shaker with ice and shake again. Strain into a small goblet glass and spray lavender bitters on top. Garnish with lavender flowers.
40ml Tullamore Dew
20ml Oloroso sherry
10ml Galliano ristretto coffee liqueur
5ml crème de mure liqueur or Chamboard liqueurr (raspberry liqueur)
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Place all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir and double strain into a cocktail glass.
