Okay bartenders, here’s the story so far. G’Vine Perspectives is all about celebrating the unconventional thinkers who look at life in a different way, and by doing so inspire us to look at life differently too. Perhaps even more importantly, it’s about getting involved; choosing unconventional thinkers and saluting them with an original G’Vine cocktail – a creation that could put you in the frame for a money-can’t-buy trip to France.

G’Vine Perspectives

If you could choose one unconventional thinker, who would it be? Someone who inspired you when you were a student perhaps, a person who showed you there was a different way to look at the world? Or it might be somebody you once worked with who had a way of going about things that made you want to emulate them. It might be an artist, actor, author. Or a distiller, sommelier or bartender. Maybe you know them. Or maybe you just wish you had actually met them. The important thing is that they’ve really inspired you because of their unconventional way of looking at life and their work.

G’Vine Perspectives has already inspired the likes of Alex Kratena, David Wondrich, gaz regan, Jason Crawley, Nick Strangeway, Philip Duff, Ryan Chetiyawardana and Shingo Gokan who have cited, amongst others Pablo Picasso, Derren Brown and Dick Bradsell as their unconventionalists. Moreover, they’ve each celebrated them in liquid form with an original G’Vine serve. If you’re inspired to do the same, read on.

The Prize

G’Vine Perspectives invites bartenders from around the world to choose and celebrate their unconventional thinker. The ten best nominations will take the bartender in question to France, the home of G’Vine Gin.

Here’s what the winners have to look forward to… The five day trip will take in Bordeaux, Cognac and Paris, and amongst the hosts will be bartender, author and cocktail guru gaz regan; internationally renowned bartender Alex Kratena; spirits educator and Director of Education for Tales of the Cocktail, Philip Duff and G’Vine Founder and Master Distiller, Jéan-Sébastien Robicquet.

There’ll  be a visit to a family-run cognac house, a cooking workshop with a Michelin-starred chef, a gin-paired lunch at a top Paris restaurant, a nosing master class with one of the city’s leading fragrance houses, not to mention a poolside dinner party and hot air balloon ride. Check out the video at the top of the page for more details.

Get involved

Here’s what you need to do:

First, take a moment. A bit longer maybe. Think about the unconventional person who has inspired you and who you want to salute. Then create an original G’Vine Gin serve with which to celebrate them. Finally, make a short video to tell your story. We’re not talking big production Star Wars type stuff. Get your iPhone out (other brands of smart phone are also available) and off you go. Explain why you’ve chosen your person and demonstrate your cocktail.

In the meantime take a look at the unconventional thinkers chosen by Alex Kratena, Jason Crawley, Nick Strangeway, Ryan Chetiyawardana and Shingo Gokan, as well as David Wondrich, gaz regan and Philip Duff.
