Soran NomuraFuglen, Japan

No 10 in a series of 11, talking to the winners of G’Vine Perspectives Global Challenge about the unconventional people who inspired them to create new G’Vine serves.

Jiro Shirasu

“Jiro Shirasu was a Japanese economist who studied in the UK when he was a young man. After the Second World War he knew his country needed to build a new relationship with the USA. He spoke English which was very unusual back then and his was a country where tradition was extremely important. He was very unconventional in that he went against tradition to forge a new relationship with the USA which went on to become vital in his country’s recovery.

Not many people really know about him today so I wanted to represent his achievements. My drink is a twist on the Last Word and I call it Sage The World. It’s a word play on Save The World, in a way that’s what I believe he did.”

Sage the World

30ml G’Vine Nouaison
2 sage leaves
25ml Manzanilla sherry
20ml lemon juice
15 ml homemade sage and green tea syrup
