We don’t generally need any extra encouragement to get on the agave-based libations (after all, Scientists at the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies in Mexico have found that tequila may actually be good for your bones*!) BUT, in the interest of keeping you in the loop… today is National Tequila Day!

With this in mind, we’ve rounded up eight spots around London where you can indulge in a variety of tequila-based tipples, no matter what your bar or brand preference. Enjoy!

Pillars of Hercules

What to order: Paloma

Tequila: Patrón Silver

One of Soho’s oldest and most famous pubs, Pillars of Hercules, has had an exciting new revamp and are serving up some epic cocktails. Head here for the ultimate twist on the Paloma; a stunning blend of Patrón Silver tequila, white grapefruit and peach liqueur. The fresh, crisp flavours of their Paloma is certainly one to indulge in this International Tequila Day.

Bar Swift

What to order: Chameleon

Tequila: Olmeca Altos Blanco

Bar Swift’s new downstairs menu might lean towards the darker spirits (after all, they have over 250 varieties of whisky), but that doesn’t mean there’s not the odd agave-gem hidden amongst the bourbon and Scotch serves. The Chameleon is a refreshing and zingy combination of Olmeca Altos Blanco, pineapple eau de vie, Ancho Verde and lime, alongside coriander and green pepper – toeing the line perfectly between sharp, sweet and savoury. In other words – an unbelievably moreish cocktail.

Sexy Fish

What to order: Golden Riviera

Tequila: Chipotle-infused Don Julio Blanco tequila

A combination of Chipotle-infused Don Julio Blanco tequila, citrus sherbet, oregano, camomile, peach, lavender, rosemary and Champagne, makes this a piquant, lip-smacking and fabulously fizzy cocktail. The gorgeous surroundings of the bar also makes it a rather special haunt for indulging on National Tequila Day.

What to order: The Esté Padre

Tequila: Tequila Enemigo

Head to Barts speakeasy (if you can find it, that is…) and order this groovy little number for ultimate Instagram points. Not only does it look great, but it’s a sweet ‘n’ savoury mix of Enemigo 89 Alejo Cristalino tequila, fresh pepper, lime juice, agave syrup, Tabasco sauce and cloudy apple juice – hot stuff in more ways than one.

W Hotel

What to order: Spice Boy

Tequila: Casamigos Tequila

Head over to W Hotel for a real tastebud-tingling tipple that consists of Casamigos Tequila, tamarind, green chilli, salsa parilla, homemade syrup and lime. A guaranteed way to embrace the exotic vibes this summer.

Coin Laundry

What to order: Gaucho Margarita

Tequila: Yerba Mate Tequila

This Tequila Day Coin Laundry will be providing the perfect ingredients to hone a margarita, the go-to tequila cocktail. Margaritas are all about flavour balance and here they do it perfectly. Enjoy the Gaucho Margarita at Coin Laundry’s bustling location just off Exmouth Market.

Scarfes bar

What to order: Booyakasha

Tequila: Patrón Silver tequila infused with dried mango

Head to Scarfes Bar to indulge in their recently launched menu that’s inspired by key cultural figures in recent British history from 2001 to 2018. Twisting up the classic Margarita, the Booyakasha is a deliciously wicked, spicy cocktail, with a hint of tropical mango depicting the fruitiness of Ali G (2003). We love the combination of Patrón Silver tequila infused with dried mango and habanero distillate, Martini Rubino, Canadian ice wine, Verjus Minus 8 and grapefruit juice, served in a glass that’s garnished with smoky Sal de Guano (aka worm salt).

STK London

What to order: Patrón Tequila cocktail flight

Tequila: Patrón

The West End celebrity haunt, STK London, is embracing the spirit of tequila this year with an International Tequila Day Patrón Tequila cocktail flight. Made up of a refreshing Paloma, a citrusy Margarita and Patrón’s take on the Negroni, it’s the perfect trio to enjoy on a relaxed summer’s evening. Add a tot of Gran Patrón Burdeos if you’re feeling extra-fancy – go on, you deserve it!
